Golf! Golf! Golf! We are spoiled for choice. World famous Machrihanish Golf Club, the newer, Machrihanish Dunes and Dunaverty Golf Club (Southend) are all within a 10 minute drive of the property. Further up the east coast is Carradale Golf Club (9 holes) and Gigha, Islay and Arran are also a worthwhile day trip away.

Kintyre has a wealth of beautiful scenery with beaches to the east, west and south of the peninsula. So, whether you enjoy surfing or enjoying a family day out with some sandcastle building, there is a beach to suit everyone! If forest and hill walks are more appealing to you, then this area is home to the Kintyre Way, combining serious hiking and gentle rambles. It runs 161 km from Tarbert to Machrihanish  and takes in fantastic views across the sea to Gigha, Islay, Jura and Arran on the east coast. Of course, you can complete part or all of it and in any order you wish.

Campbeltown is also host to the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival which is held in August and  attracts many famous and upcoming bands and singers. There is a great variety of genres appearing in various different venues as well as outdoor stages. The town is usually very busy at this time and the atmosphere is fantastic. Next year's festival runs from 16th- 20th August 2017.

For those who are a bit more energetic, there is the very popular MOK 10k and half marathon which is held at the end of May each year and is usually booked up very early so you will have to be quick!  The half marathon takes you through some spectacular scenery with a section of the run going through Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club and across the beach at Westport.  Next year's run takes place on Sunday 28th May 2017.

If whisky is your thing, then Campbeltown is home to 3 well known distilleries, Springbank, Glen Scotia and Glengyle with all offering tours and tasting.  Campbeltown Malts Whisky Festival 2017  takes place from Wednesday 24th until Friday 26th May.
